“Then he said, ‘Beware! Guard against every kind of greed. Life is not measured by how much you own.'” – Luke 12:15 (NLT)
Stuff. We can be paralyzed by the pursuit, love and accumulation of stuff. Stuff can be how we keep score. Stuff can make us happy when we’re down, especially if that stuff is wireless, has buttons and goes fast.
But when we dive into Scripture and find this verse, it comes from Jesus scolding knuckleheads squabbling about inheritance, and then tells a parable about a rich man worrying more about his worldly stuff than his eternal reward.
This is Jesus talking, saying greed is not good. Life is not measured by stuff. Are we listening?
That’s what I’ll be praying about today.
